RANGATAHI

Maori Renaissance

While the Maori people are proud nation, we have had to struggle over obstacles that the  British subjects and Immigrants have never known.  However, against all odds, we have maintained our culture even though colonialist say, "die Maori, your culture is gone, your language is dead, your color is watered down."  We have preserved our Maoritanga for our mokopuna.

Rangatahi say, " The idea of self-governance does not scare us".

A new generation of young Māori are aspiring to change the way our people are perceived.  How Māori people can be empowered.  It also touches on combating negative stereotypes of Māori.  This is a short film depicting their collective thoughts on being Māori in the 21st century.  No paid actors, just members from Ngā Tauira Māori having their say.
