WHAT IS AN ACT OF STATE ?
An Act of State is an Executive Act exercising the Sovereign Power of a Country, such as the use of force against another country, a declaration, or decree which cannot be challenged or interfered with by any court. It includes any act of a government within its geographical boundaries which cannot be subject to the jurisdiction of any foreign courts.
The Act of State Doctrine states that every Sovereign State is bound to respect the independence of every other sovereign state, and the courts will not sit in judgment of another government's acts done within its own territory.
